Ohio University Assistant Professor of Instruction in Nursing in Athens, Ohio
Ohio University Chillicothe is seeking candidates for an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Nursing, a full-time 9-month non-tenure track position.
Responsibilities include teaching in the Associate and Bachelor of Nursing degree programs and service to the campus and School of Nursing.
Teaching/instruction is the major responsibility of this position. Instruction may be in the classroom, lab, clinical, or online. Advising and committee work may be required. The ideal candidate identifies the needs of learners relative to the objectives of the program.
Specific duties include: • Utilizes records of previous experiences, personal interviews, and observations. • Assists learners to identify their own learning needs. • Develops plans for learning experiences. • Selects and organizes learning experiences which will assist learners to meet relevant program’s learning outcomes. • Works with others to choose and organize learning experiences which are consistent with learning outcomes. • Plans within the educational unit, with nursing service and allied groups for the learning experiences of students that maximize safe care of clients/patients. • Determines, selects, and organizes facilities, equipment, and materials necessary for learning. Prepares course syllabi, exams, class handouts, online materials, audiovisual materials, etc. as needed.
Other teaching assignments/instructional responsibilities may be considered based on candidate expertise and/or credentials.
All faculty members are expected to collaboratively and actively engage in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student instruction and to participate in School of Nursing governance to ensure program standards and outcomes are fully met.
A minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing ( MSN ) degree from an accredited school of professional nursing is required at the time of the position start date.
An active and unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for obtaining and maintaining an Ohio RN license is required. Must have an Ohio RN license prior to the start date.
An ability to obtain and maintain an RN license in states other than Ohio where BSN student clinical experience occurs may also be required (e.g., West Virginia).
Licensed as an RN in the United States for a minimum of two years is required.
A minimum of two years (24 months full-time equivalent) of work experience as an RN in the United States is required.
A doctoral degree is preferred. At least three years of clinical RN experience is preferred. At least three years of teaching in a nursing education program is preferred (classroom, lab, and/or clinicals).
