Greater Baltimore Medical Center Registered Nurse 1 in Baltimore, Maryland

This position is for the New Grad Residency Cohort, with start dates of February 22, 2021 and after.

RN1s must have a Bachelor's degree or obtain one within 3.5 years of the start date and must have less than one year of RN experience. Under general supervision, provides direct patient care to assigned patients. Employees must have completed an accredited AA or BSN program but have less than one year of clinical experience. All employees must participate in and complete the year-long Post-Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Participation requirements include the following: · Attend New Graduate Orientation · Attend required specialty orientation/education · Attend resident seminars and residency-related events · Complete an evidence-based practice project and related activities · Participate in program evaluation activities · Attend residency completion celebration

  • JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

    Education Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred. Bachelor’s degree required within 3.5 years of start date.

    Skills

  • Interpersonal communication (oral and written) skills required in order to educate and comfort patients and their families, maintain effective contacts with a variety of hospital personnel, and maintain appropriate documentation records.

  • Proficiency in developing nursing plan of care, implementing effective nursing care, and evaluating outcome of nursing intervention.

    Licensures, Certifications

  • Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.

  • Completion of "Healthcare Provider" CPR course, bi-annually.

    Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk almost constantly up to 90% of work time and lifting and positioning patients up to 50% of work time.

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail and often in stressful situations.

    Working Conditions

  • Normal patient care environment with possible exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature.

  • Exposed to adverse working conditions due to performance of patient care activities and exposure to communicable diseases.

    Conditions of Employment
