Summary:

The Nurse Manager is an expert psychiatric nurse who is able to manage one or more defined areas within an organized nursing setting. They are adept at negotiating conflict, collaborating with others and applying self-reflection to their practice. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the delivery of care, facilitating change and mentoring/developing all nursing personnel. Nurse Manager works collaboratively with the RN Assistant Manager(s) & Clinical Educator (to provide clinical leadership). Perform any duties and/or responsibilities assigned by Patient Care Director, for which qualified.

Responsibilities:

• Monitors trends in medication management, patient and staff injuries, quality and risk reports and oversees development, auditing, and implementation of action plans as necessary. • Collaborates with Patient Care Directors on the development and management of department budget. • Ensures milieu structure and programming supports therapeutic approaches. • Oversees the implementation and efficacy of the Nurse Assignment Sheet by auditing and ongoing education. • Collaborates with Patient Care Directors and develops the Plan of Correction response to inspection surveys and implements follow-up required for nursing. • Responsible for all aspects of Inter-Disciplinary Treatment Plans (IDTP) and Individualized Care Plans. Ensuring the weekly meetings are held on time, all disciplines are completing the IDTP using Smart Goals, and all patients (as clinically appropriate) are participating in their treatment and given a copy of their IDTP weekly. • Conducts weekly discipline specific staff meetings (inclusive of all shifts) and monthly all discipline staff meetings inclusive of published and distributed timely minutes. • Ensures employee evaluations are completed timely with goals reflective of employee/unit needs. Coordinates monthly supervision of all staff incorporating short-term, long-term and professional goals. • Identifies and reports emergent unit concerns and escalates appropriately. • Is responsible for hiring of all nursing staff in collaboration with HR. Collaborates with Learning and Innovation through the onboarding process. Ensures orientation materials are current and preceptor competence is consistently maintained. Meets with all new nursing staff weekly for a designated time period. Promotes a continuous learning environment for nursing staff and students. • Assures all documentation complies with regulatory standards (admissions, discharges, nursing notes, restraint flow sheets, debrief forms, RLs and medication documentation). • Identifies opportunities to improve the patient experience and care. Develops, facilitates and audits plans for improvement. • Other Duties
