GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Retirement Center is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Staff Development Coordinator. The individual in this position will provide educational opportunities and track completed education for all staff at the Wyoming Retirement Center, including CPR, employee health and safety, nursing in-services, electronic health records training of staff, and orientation; educate nursing staff at the direction of the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing; and will be required to work as a floor nurse two days per month and assist with physician rounds on an as-needed basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Conduct training throughout the month for new and ongoing education programs.

  • Educate/train staff on safety/environmental/QA issues as needed.

  • Document and track all training and education.

  • Assist with completing performance evaluations for nursing staff, observe work concerns for nursing staff, and provide supervision/ instruction for quality care.

  • Participate in interviews of nursing applicants.

  • Provide professional nursing services to residents. Implement and evaluate the nursing care plans.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference will be given to applicants who have one (1) year of experience in long term care and those who are eligible for licensure as an RN in the State of Wyoming.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of Wyoming Nurse Practice Act and Standards of Nursing Practice.

  • Knowledge of skills necessary for communication, organization, time management and team building.

  • Knowledge of computers and word processing skills.

  • Knowledge of supervisory and performance evaluation skills.

  • Knowledge of adapting teaching style and techniques to different learning styles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Nursing)

Experience:

1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to:

  • Lift/transfer patients to different positions.

  • Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.

  • Sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

  • Work evenings, nights, and /or weekends when the situation requires it.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-exempt

  • A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.

  • Pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions (direct patient care positions are considered safety-sensitive). Drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.
