The Hospital Medicine RN acts as a liaison between healthcare personnel, hospital medicine physicians, patients, and their families to ensure necessary patient care is provided promptly and effectively. Relies on experience and judgment to manage the process of patient care from the point of referral from a community care provider or admission to the hospital from the emergency department, through discharge and hand-off to a community care provider.
Must possess moderate physical strength, good visual and auditory acuity, manual dexterity and the ability to speak clearly, directly or by telephone to patients, families, or other staff and the general public. Position requires long periods of standing and moving about with intermittent periods of sitting while working at a computer or talking on a telephone. Must be able to work and move unrestricted from a deep squatted position to reaching and working overhead and must be ambulatory on stairs in the event of an emergency. Lifting and carrying of charts and supplies weighing up to fifty pounds is often necessary. Lifting patients from a lying to sitting position is required.
Use of computer, cellular phone, handheld computer, telephone, fax, and copier is required. A work day starts at 6:00 a.m. (with tardiness starting after 6:15 a.m.), consists of at least a twelve-hour shift, and working every other weekend.
Graduate from an Accredited School of Nursing
Manageability of multiple demands independent of direct supervision.
Advanced organizational skills

Mature, professional RN judgment.
Basic computer proficiency.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Current Louisiana State License as RN
