Description

Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Manager for State Hospital South (SHS) in Blackfoot. Registered Nurse Managers may be used in leadership programs within the institution and community. Institution work involves 24-hour and weekend charge nursing supervision. Participation in long-range planning and policy development is expected.

Example of Duties

  • Functions as 24-hour supervisor in a nursing/treatment unit of a state institution or facility.

  • Participates in multi-disciplinary staffings and coordinates nursing service activities with other health-related, therapeutic and support services.

  • Selects, develops, and evaluates staff.

  • Orients staff on institution/unit policies and procedures, and schedules nursing staff to ensure 24-hour coverage.

  • Provides professional nursing care and determines need for and arranges professional consultations, and delegates routine nursing care to subordinate staff.

  • Enforces standards of nursing practice and recommends unit and institution policies and procedures.

  • Ensure completion of required nursing records.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed as a Professional or Registered Nurse in Idaho as defined by Idaho Code 54-1408 or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418, in one of the following compact states: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Wisconsin.

  • Good knowledge of supervisory practices.

  • Experience assessing nursing practices for compliance with policies and procedures and recommending appropriate actions.
