South Lake Hospital Registered Nurse - (Experienced) - Intensive Care Unit - PRN - Nights in Clermont, Florida

With 170 beds, and more than 1,500 employees, we offer a variety of medical services including diagnostic imaging, orthopedics, robotic surgery, urology, women's services, and our cardiac catheterization laboratory.

Essential Functions

Provides direct bedside patient care on a unit that regularly staffs RNs on a 24 hour, 7 day per week basis to include:

*Completes an assessment consistent with the level of care and standards of practice upon entry to the hospital or nursing unit and within pre-established time frames.

*Knowledgeable about the principles of growth and development over the life span, assessing the data reflective of the patient's status and interpreting the necessary information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs

*Differentiates severity of patient problems and prioritizes care within the patient assignment, and establishes acuity level consistent with patient assessment and nursing diagnosis.

*Independently develops nursing plan of care based on established standards of practice and current evidence

*Initiates nursing interventions and protocols to ensure desired patient outcome is achieved.

*Evaluates and re-evaluates patient's plan of care and response to illness, treatments and nursing interventions throughout patient stay. Makes appropriate revisions to achieve desired patient outcomes.

*Utilizes critical thinking to recognize changes in the patient's condition and communicates significant findings to the appropriate discipline.

*Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to ensure timely and appropriate care occurs that facilitates effective patient throughput.

*Demonstrates ability in priority setting and decision-making skills when dealing with changing patient conditions and census. Works efficiently to maintain continuous unit functions.

*Evaluates patients learning style and provides patient and family education accordingly. Utilizes teach back method to evaluate patient/family understanding of teaching.

*Documentation is accurate, consistent, clear concise, timely and complete reflecting patient responses, outcomes related to nurse care received and

*Documents and effectively communicates using the teach back method appropriate discharge instructions and referral for follow up care.

*Assists in obtaining current medication list upon admission. Utilizes appropriate technology as applicable to ensure medication administration is timely, complete using established safety mechanisms and includes the patient's response.

*Independently identifies need for, and demonstrates accurate and timely hand-off communication consistent with standards of practice and policy

*Able to mobilize resources to respond to ethical and cultural concerns.

*Develops therapeutic relationships through presence with patients/families and actively listens to patients/families.

*Assumes responsibility and accountability for nursing care when delegating tasks and determines the appropriateness of the delegated task based on American Nurses Association principles of delegation and state regulatory requirements..

*Respects the rights and privacy of others and holds staff member information in strict confidence.

*Maintains regular attendance and complies with time and attendance policy and procedure.

*Adheres to South Lake Hospital's policies and procedures; Mission, Vision and Values statements; Code of Conduct.

*Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards including Federal, State, local and Joint Commission.

*Enhances professional growth by participating in educational programs, current literature and/or workshops.

*Practices efficient use of supplies and maintains a clean, safe and organized unit.
