Inpatient Nephrology – H2 / I2

The Inpatient Nephrology Unit, a 34-bed unit, treats kidney diseases from acute to end stage renal disease. The staff has a vast understanding of fluid and electrolyte balance in patients. The patient population is complex and has multiple comorbidities that keep staff challenged and sharpens their critical thinking skills. Nurses gain a wide range of experience in kidney diseases and kidney-related problems. They are all trained to perform peritoneal dialysis (PD). Nurses do manual exchanges or work with a cycler for PD patients on the unit and attend to all patients needing PD throughout the entire hospital. It is a good unit to build a good foundation in medical surgical nursing.

• Position: 36 hours per week• Shift: Midnight shift 7 to 7:30 / Every other weekend after unit training• Benefits: Full Time Benefit package

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • BSN preferred• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing• Current Michigan RN license• Previous inpatient experience is preferred• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel• High level of customer service skills
