Job Summary

The Nurse Manager provides operational oversight to his/her Care Units. This position has 24-hour accountability and responsibility for providing quality patient care and outcomes in the departments.

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance to the established FMC policies, procedures and guidelines. The candidate will successfully complete competencies for this position.

Job Qualifications

Education: Registered Nurse with Bachelors Science Nursing (BSN) required. Masters in Nursing or healthcare related degree preferred. Specialty certification in field of expertise or in nursing management preferred.

Experience: Require minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience in acute care hospital setting or critical care. 1-2 years of nursing management experience required.

Job-related Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; ability to problem-solve and facilitate resolution to issues; demonstrates ability to handle multiple priorities; ability to make independent decisions.

Essential Job Functions

Job Expectations and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for daily operations and coordination of all direct and indirect patient care activities in the department.

  • Practices continuous quality improvement using a multidisciplinary approach.

  • Completes staff evaluations and competency assessments.

  • Ensures staff education opportunities are identified and completed.

  • Ensures staff compliance with patient care quality and safety requirements.
