JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Position Identification Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Job Name: Clinical Practitioner Position Category: Patient Care Position Purpose Advanced Practice Nurse Provides primary or specialty health care services within defined scope of practice in collaboration with a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CW policies and procedures. Department Position Purpose The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing direct patient care to children under the care of the inpatient and outpatient oncology service. Services will be performed in the Inpatient and/or Outpatient Oncology unit with the potential to also provide support in the Day Hospital and/or Procedures unit. The patient population includes oncology patients, ranging from infants to young adults. The APP will contribute to excellence in patient care, research, quality improvement, patient safety, and teaching. Physician Assistant Provides primary or specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CH policies and procedures. Core Responsibilities Department Specific Responsibilities Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status. Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests. Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans. Monitors effectiveness of plan of care. Educates patients on disease and treatment plans. Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed. Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents. Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate. Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors. Patient Care: a) Collaborate with MCW pediatric oncology physicians and interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of children under the care of the oncology service. b) Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests, procedures, laboratory studies. Appropriately communicate findings with the medical team as well as patients and families. c) Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the oncology physician, monitor effectiveness of plan of care throughout the patient's hospitalization; coordinate the care and discharge of patients. d) Document within the Electronic Medical Record...
