General Summary: The Advance Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is a 1-year Primary Care program that aims at providing support to the APP during their transition to practice. The goal of the Fellowship is to increase confidence and competence in the provider within a supportive environment. APPs are dynamic part of the workforce and are key in filling the void in the primary care shortage.

During the first year of the Fellowship, the APP will participate in a combination of learning experiences which include: precepted primary care clinic, specialty rotations, didactic sessions including a quality improvement seminar and project. The APP will be asked to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and assessment services that address health and social needs of designated patients within a range of acute and chronic conditions.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs triage calls, patient call backs, write or call in script, initial visits,

  • Identifies medical and health risks and needs.

  • Maintains accurate legible and confidential records, updating and recording changes in health status.

  • Formulates the appropriate differential diagnosis based on the history, physical examination and clinical findings.

  • Prescribes non – pharmacological therapies and pharmacological agents appropriately

  • Accurately conducts and interprets diagnostic tests.

  • Provides patient and family education related to health status, utilizing additional resources when indicated.

  • Participates as a team member in the provision of medical and health care, interacting with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care.

  • Play a consistent and active role in identifying program inefficiencies and finding collaborative solutions to problems through participation in Advisory Board and Evaluations

  • Participates in quality assurance reviews on a periodic basis, including systematic review of records and treatment plans.

  • Maintains current knowledge by attending educational programs.

  • Maintains certification in compliance with current state law.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of Inspira Code of Conduct, department specific compliance policies and procedures, and how to report potential violations in compliance

    Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and completed masters or postgraduate certificate nurse practitioners program.

    Experience: High quality of nursing competence and advanced leadership skills. Prior computer experience required with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

    Other Requirements: Current registration with NJ State Board of Nursing. Certified by nationally recognized nurse practitioner organization. BLS Certification required. ACLS preferred. CDS, DEA required.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, external business partners and the community
