Position Description :

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine has an exciting opportunity for Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the inpatient Advance Practice Team in their busy and growing inpatient cardiology service at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania- HUP East/ New Patient Pavilion.

Our cardiology Advance Practitioners Service (CAP Service) has 2 major sub-sets – heart failure/transplant (CAP-H) and interventional cardiology (CAP-I). The majority of the patients on this service require cardiology intermediate care level of care (CICU). The service is covered by the advance practice providers (NPs/PAs) 24 hours per day/7 days a week.

Responsibilities will include inpatient care for patients with advance heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, status post heart transplant, valve disorders, coronary artery disease, pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart disease, common arrhythmias, structural heart disease including one of the largest TAVR programs in the country, as well as other general medical problems. This position requires a high level of independence but is well supported with collaborative practice and multi-disciplinary practice model. The high acuity clinical practice setting is dynamic, fast- paced, and high pressure. Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills, as well as strong medical/pharmacology/nursing knowledge are essential. In this role, there will also be a tremendous professional growth potential and the opportunity to participate in Penn Medicine’s tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and education.

Minimum Requirements :

• Master’s prepared ACNP (Acute) or PA

• Pennsylvania licensure as an ACNP or PA-C

• BLS required, ACLS preferred

• Experience in cardiology and acute care preferred

• Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams highly valued

Additional Information :

6 12's in 2 weeks-rotating nights/days with about a 50/50 split and every 3rd weekend
