The LPN will provide care under the supervision of the Supervisory Nurse, Nursing Director, and Medical Provider.

This position is located at the Racine County Jail.

Hours:

  • Part-Time or Full-Time Opportunities

  • Evening Shifts

  • 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts available

  • Every Other Weekend

Job Duties:

  • Provides care under the direction of the medical staff. Taking vitals, simple dressing/treatments, reporting information to nurse on-call, assisting with sick call of the inmates/patients, and focused assessment. Additional treatments and cares may be assigned by RN.

  • Accountable for the daily documentation, tracking, procedures, orders, medications, and follow-ups of the inmate/patient’s care with oversight and direction by the Registered Nurse

  • Conduct focused assessments through collecting and comparison of data and reporting abnormal finding to an RN

  • Responsible for the assistance of self-administration of medications to inmates

  • Provides information by answering questions and requests by staff, inmates/patients, and outside sources.

  • Assists with clinic supply inventory by checking stock, anticipating needed supplies, and managing orders and receipts

  • Responsible for the maintenance and stocking of the items in the medication cart and other areas associated with the self-administration of medications

  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with the MEnD team of medical providers, nurses, health techs, administrative assistants.

  • Responsible for communicating between the medical unit and the correctional staff in the facility

  • Maintains a professional appearance.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks and assisting with expansion of the MEnD jail health philosophy,

Qualifications:

  • Valid, unrestricted, Wisconsin LPN License.

  • Basic Life Support (CPR) Certified
