Slidell Memorial Hospital Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/ Registered Nurse (RN)- Nursing Informatics Analyst in Slidell, Louisiana
The selected individual will be responsible for analysis of workflow & will assess system needs, plan, design, implement & evaluate system applications. The qualified candidate will be an LPN or RN with a preferred BSN, posses’ comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices, 2 yrs of current acute care nursing experience, as well as preferred experience with IT implementation projects. Participate as a member of the quality department, to help maintain the standards of care and practice through clinical systems improvement, activities and clinical staff education as it relates to information technology. The candidate will also assist with the identification, evaluation, and assessment of new care delivery technology, developing recommendations on the impact of integration with existing workflows and systems.

Participates in the development and implementation of clinical and physician information systems to ensure desired goals and objectives are met.
Ensure that new or modified clinical information systems maintain patient confidentiality and privacy, in accordance with HIPAA and Joint Commission.
Specializes in patient care processes and clinician workflow and leads initiatives to promote effective process design, development, and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record and other technologies.
Partners with IT Applications to facilitate advanced clinical decision support implementation within the Electronic Medical Record in order to meet clinical goals.
Solve application and workflow issues and work through barriers to achieve results by collaborating effectively with users and the Information Technology staff.
Participates in development, monitoring and evaluation of technology and decision support (barcode point of care, rules, order sets, etc.) for continuous improvement.
Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application and to ensure the Information Systems are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice.
Responsible for troubleshooting, researching and resolving all EMR related issues, including working with vendor to reach resolution and timelines for system patches and upgrades.
Responsible and accountable for skills, performance, and compliance in accordance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
Complies with the Slidell Memorial Hospital Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct, including the immediate reporting of any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct; patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns.
Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.

3-5 years of EPIC Electronic Medical Record experience as a super-user or IT level analyst
2 years’ experience with IT implementation, project management and/or application support
Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and healthcare guides
Excellent ability to translate technical terminology for consumption by non-technical audiences
Good familiarity with project management, quality assurance, and information
3 years of nursing (LPN/RN) experience
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
Possess a high degree of integrity and trust along with ability to work independently
- B.S. Nursing
- 3 years of nursing (LPN/RN) experience
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) from the State of Louisiana;
