Key Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required

  • Critical Care Course required

  • Recent ICU experience required

  • Previous knowledge and experience of arrhythmia and 12-Lead ECG interpretation combined with hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation and ability to manage hemodynamically unstable patients is essential

  • Recent CVICU experience preferred

  • Current Coronary Care Level 1 and 2 Certificate preferred

  • Canadian National Critical Care Certification an asset

  • Ability to think critically and effectively in order to prioritize needs in emergency situations

  • Highly effective decision making, problem solving and organizational skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written

  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing cardiac nursing continuing care opportunities

  • Positive attendance and work record essential

    Position Summary:

  • Responsible and accountable for decisions and actions in the provision and management of nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac surgery

  • Practitioner, consultant and educator for cardiac surgery patient groups and health team members
