Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. York Campus, Murfreesboro The Quality, Safety and Value (QSV) Nurse Supervisor is administratively responsible to the Chief of QSV within the Office of the Director. Responsibilities The Nurse Supervisor provides direct operational oversight and first-line supervision of staff of the Patient Safety program, Clinical Quality Improvement program, Accreditation Readiness Program, and the Utilization Management Program for the Healthcare System. The Nurse Supervisor initiates and leads interdisciplinary projects, committees, teams, etc. with the aim of improving outcomes in the management of complex client care of the systems and processes of the organization/service. The Nurse Supervisor is recognized as a leader and consistently demonstrates that leadership in quality improvement activities. The Nurse Supervisor provides consultation, education, and assistance at all levels of the organization on how to comply with enterprise risk management methods and processes to include presentations (i.e. risk reduction strategies and opportunities). The Nurse Supervisor functions as the lead manager responsible for implementation of directives, policies and program requirements as prescribed by VHA. The Nurse Supervisor directly supports the development, maintenance, and operation of the healthcare system processes. Position includes other duties as assigned. (NY67 Quality Pay scale) Preferred Qualifications: 4+ years inpatient and 4+ years outpatient nursing practice with demonstrated clinical competence in both settings Preferred Nurse Manager or higher supervisory experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings within the last 5 years Preferred Quality Office experience Preferred Significant experience in the following areas: program management, program implementation, policy writing, process improvement, data management, SAIL, HEDIS, ORYX, EPRP, HRO, Team STEPPS, HFMA and/or RCA Preferred Significant experience in Accreditation Readiness, particularly with regard to TJC, CARF, LTCI and OIG Preferred Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Preferred Certified Transformation Coach and/or Lean Belt training and certification Preferred Resource management experience (i.e. fiscal, budget, contracting, FTEE positions, equipment, supplies, etc.) Preferred The incumbent has demonstrated expertise in the application of sophisticated knowledge and skill as a nurse and a high degree of leadership, motivation, self-direction, and initiative in quality management/risk management activities. This incumbent's performance demonstrates use of sound clinical judgment in decision making. The Assistant Chief demonstrates sound organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively (orally, graphical, and in writing) with professional and administrative staff at all levels. High functioning soft skills are critical. The incumbent demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both within and outside the organization that reflect the organization's guiding principles and the attainment of organizational goals. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience.
